Although housed in a rather plain building, the Massimo D’Azeglio hotel has a colourful history and prides itself on having welcomed key players in Italian politics in years gone by. Not only does it have paintings by its namesake, Massimo Taparelli, but throughout the building hang various paintings and prints of important people from the Italian unification movement. These compliment the elegant style of the hotel.
The brightly lit lounge is warmed by the rich reds and golds used for the upholstery. There is plenty of comfortable lounge-seating set around small tables and a wi-fi internet connection is available throughout the lobby area. For those without their own laptop, the hotel has an internet terminal in the lobby available 24 hours a day. The use of the leisure facilities at a nearby sister hotel is offered to all guests. Room service is available from 6.30am until midnight. During the hours when the restaurant is open you can order meals. At other times snacks and drinks are available via the bar.
There are 197 guestrooms in the hotel spread over 5 floors. All rooms have been recently renovated and have hardwood flooring, oak furniture and high ceilings. Rooms vary in size due to the nature of the building with some being particularly spacious. To enhance your comfort, all rooms are sound proofed and have individually controlled air conditioning. As you would expect of a hotel of this standard, all the guestrooms have satellite television, telephone and mini bar as well as personal safe. Bathrooms are modern and have either a bath or shower. All have hairdryer and complimentary toiletries.
The bar is attached to the lobby and plush lounge and has plenty of space with comfortable seating to help you relax after a busy day. A wi-fi internet connection is available throughout the bar area.
The hotel’s restaurant, Ristorante Massimo D'Azeglio, is famous throughout Rome and prides itself in having the traditional atmosphere, which has been a feature for more than 100 years. Decorated in traditional woodwork and original paintings, the restaurant is refined as well as welcoming and boasts an array of vintage wines and fantastic Italian cooking.
The breakfast room is separate from the restaurant and is open from 6.30am until 10.30am serving a huge buffet breakfast.
Private parking is available in a garage, which is owned by the hotel group. There is a charge of approximately €35 per day (depending on car size), payable at the garage. Although parking cannot be booked in advance it is advisable to mention to the hotel that you plan to park.
